Trinidad & Tobago Emergency Mutual Aid Scheme Launches Revised Pt. Lisas Estate ER Plan
TTEMAS unveiled its 2011 Emergency Response Plan at the Cara Suites Hotel in Claxton Bay on Tuesday 19th July, 2011. National Security Minister Brigadier John Sandy and chief executive officer of the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Management (ODPM) Dr Stephen Ramroop attended the function and commended TTEMAS for the ER Plan and the priority being given to ensure ER preparedness for the country. In presenting the Emergency Response Plan, TTEMAS unveiled a list of potential threats at the Point Lisas Industrial Estate in Couva. These included ammonia release and inhalation, chlorine spills, pipeline rupture, methanol fires, pipe explosion and mass casualty incidents.
The TTEMAS emergency response plan involves support from the Fire Service, the Police Service, the Couva Talparo Tabaquite Regional Corporation, ODPM and TTEMAS. A full-scale emergency response drill would take place on November 17th 2011 on the Pt. Lisas Estate, that will strongly involve the NGC.
